A project that explores the boundaries of love, sacrifice, and identity. It introduces a radical connection between two people through a complete exchange of blood, allowing one to literally take over another’s pain. The RedLoop system connects two circulatory systems and performs a full transfusion in which not only healthy cells but also diseases and immune responses are shared. The process is irreversible and confrontational, questioning how far someone would go for a loved one. RedLoop transforms a common expression — “I wish I could take your pain” — into a tangible reality and exposes the emotional depth of human connection. It envisions a future where health is no longer individual, but collectively shared through the bloodstream.
With it being a speculative design project, one of the main challenges was making the concept feel believable. We had to find the right balance between fiction and realism so people could imagine the device existing in the future. This meant refining our story multiple times to make sure every detail supported the idea and nothing felt out of place. In the end, a convincing story was key to getting people to truly question what could be possible.
